Thanos Hotels and Resorts Group was awarded for its long-standing contribution to the charitable foundation “Sophia Foundation for Children” through the “I cook and I offer” programme, at a special event held yesterday at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Education, educators, media representatives as well as volunteers and friends of the foundation.
The “I cook and I offer” lunch programme that runs in several all-day schools in Cyprus, is celebrating ten years of providing critical support to children and communities in need. Specifically, the programme covers the catering needs of 16 all-day primary schools and kindergartens across Cyprus.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, Thanos Hotels and Resorts is entirely responsible for the catering needs of children attending the all-day primary school of Giolou-Miliou, for the fifth consecutive year, thereby supporting the valuable work of the “Sophia Foundation for Children”.
In a statement after accepting the award on behalf of the Group, Natasha Michaelides, the Group’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, said: “In this ever-changing world, we could not turn a blind eye to the challenges facing our fellow human beings and especially children. Our ongoing partnership with “Sophia Foundation for Children” means a lot to us, while the Group’s employees have also embraced this initiative. The Foundation is making a valuable contribution to the local community, by taking commendable actions that are very inspiring. Good nutrition is a basic need for any child, and it should be sufficiently covered. We hope that over the next school year we will be able to support more struggling children and families”.
